George James Software and M/Gateway Developments are delighted to present SlipstreamUSA, a half-day event on the afternoon of Wednesday, 25th March, 2009 at the Arizona Biltmore, immediately following InterSystems DEVCON. This is the next in an exciting and unique series of events which have encouraged people to step out of the slipstream and explore the potential of Caché and related technologies in the modern, networked and integrated world.
...tremendously valuable information... ...great topics... ...I learned heaps!... ...Most thought provoking and informative presentations of the week...
These are just some of the comments that were received about last year's SlipstreamUSA. More feedback from that event can be seen here.
The theme of this year's SlipstreamUSA is cloud based computing. In the most general terms cloud computing is the provision of applications and data from the Internet.
Typically applications are web-based or exposed as web-services and the data is stored in on-line hosted servers with infrastructure that takes care of all the practicalities like backup, performance and resilience.
The most quoted examples are Salesforce.com, Google Apps and Amazon Web Services, but all the traditional suppliers, HP, IBM, Microsoft etc have already jumped on this bandwagon. As well as a host of startups, many major end users are now starting to adopt cloud based computing.
So what are the benefits of cloud computing? What technology and skills do you need? Can you use the technology you already have? Can you preserve the investments that you've already made in your applications? Is there a role for Caché and related technologies in the cloud? Attend SlipstreamUSA and find answers to all these questions and more.
Who Should Attend?
SlipstreamUSA is aimed at anyone who already uses Caché or similar technologies and are interested in understanding cloud based computing and the associated opportunities and benefits.
We encourage anyone attending InterSystems DEVCON2009 to stay on after the event and join in what promises to be a very interesting afternoon. Of course, anyone not attending DEVCON is also welcome to attend.
Attendance is free, but pre-registration is required. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Please click here to register.
