MUMPS (M) was created in response to a real need and has adapted to many application markets over its 40 year history. It has survived heavy competition because of it's simplicity and power, especially where complex applications demanded rapid development and runtime performance.

It has adapted to hardware and software evolutionary shifts over the last 40 years. However, the latest evolutionary epoch will present the greatest challenge and opportunity for M Technology – the so called "Cloud Computing" paradigm. Because of the stringent demands this paradigm has placed upon the technology supporting it and the move towards a simpler database model by the industry giants, it would appear that that it is a ready made environment for M Technology. What goes around comes around!

This presentation will attempt to propose a strategy that will position M Technology as a viable competitor to these "new" database solutions as well as define some tactical objectives to accomplish these goals.
